Description

Mark Twain (1835 - 1910) became a writer after having had a military career, having been a printer, a journalist; he became known for his novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in 1876, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in 1884.

He is one of the first authors to use the authentic spoken language of the Southern and Western States in describing American society with realism and severity. Marc Twain is often compared to Dickens and Stevenson. The last years of his life were marked by worldwide recognition: he was one of the greatest literary figures of his time.

Mark Twain is a virulent and irreverent pamphleteer, especially when he attacks religion.
